ตำนานเล่าขาน ปีศาจจิ้งจอกเก้าหาง คิวบิโนะโยโกะ
ปีศาจจิ้งจอกเก้าหาง (九尾の妖狐, คิวบิโนะโยโกะ) เป็นปีศาจในตำนานของญี่ปุ่น(อีกเรื่อง) คำว่า คิว (九) หมายถึง เก้า, บิ (尾) หมายถึง หาง และ (โยโกะ) หมายถึง ปีศาจจิ้งจอก จิ้งจอกเก้าหางเกิดจากปีศาจจิ้งจอกที่บำเพ็ญตบะเป็นเวลานานมาก เมื่อมีอายุครบ 1000 ปี ปีศาจจิ้งจอกตนนั้น จึงกลายร่างเป็นปีศาจจิ้งจอกเก้าหาง มีพลังและอาคมที่แก่กล้ามาก จนกระทั่งสามารถแปลงร่างเป็นมนุษย์ได้ ตามตำนานเล่าว่า เคยมีจิ้งจอกเก้าหางสีทองตนหนึ่ง ที่หลบหนีมาจากอินเดียและจีน ได้มาแฝงตัวอยู่ในราชสำนักของญี่ปุ่น ในรัชสมัยของจักรพรรดิโทบะ มาปรากฏร่างของหญิงงามนามว่า ทามาโมะ มาเอะ และได้เป็นพระสนมของจักรพรรดิโทบะ นางทำให้องค์จักรพรรดิลุ่มหลงในความงามของนาง หลังจากนั้น สุขภาพขององค์จักรพรรดิก็ทรุดโทรมลงทุกวันๆ จึงได้มีการอัญเชิญนักพรตจากหอองเมียว (องเมียวโด หรือในประเทศไทยนิยมเรียกว่า องเมียว คือ รูปแบบวิชาเวทมนตร์โบราณแขนงหนึ่งของญี่ปุ่น ซึ่งมีรากฐานมาจากโหราศาสตร์และลัทธิเต๋าในประเทศจีน) มาทำพิธีปัดรังควาน(ไม่ปรากฏว่าใครเป็นคนอัญเชิญมา) หลังจากทำพิธีปัดรังควานจึงพบว่า ในวังมีปิศาจจิ้งจอกเก้าหางสีทองแฝงตัวอยู่ เมื่อความแตก ทามาโมะ มาเอะ จึงได้คืนร่างเป็นจิ้งจอกสีทองตัวมหึมา มีเก้าหาง เหาะหลบหนีไปบนท้องฟ้า กองทหารของจักรพรรดิโทบะได้ไล่ตามไปจนถึงที่ราบสูงนาสุ และต่อสู้กับปิศาจจิ้งจอกเก้าหาง จนในที่สุดก็สามารถสยบนางลงได้ และนางได้กลายเป็นหินเซ็ทโชเซกิ ซึ่งกลายเป็นแหล่งท่องเที่ยวที่มีชื่อแห่งหนึ่งของญี่ปุ่นมาจนทุกวันนี้
